Design process for Chateau Ste Michelle wine case packaging.

Chateau Ste Michelle

Artist Series Meritage

Chateau Ste Michelle releases an annual wine set highlighting different artists from the Pacific Northwest, the bottles are housed in a luxury wine packaging design inspired by the collaboration between wine and fine art. The 2010 Artist Series Box Set featured Ben Darby who utilizes acrylic techniques that are both whimsical and vibrant. We partnered with Ste Michelle on structural design to hold three bottles of their artisan wines. The purpose of the custom packaging design was not just to house and protect the wine, but to be a packaging display for both the wine and artist.
The custom wine box built from the inside out by the Design Packaging structural design team, to protect the wine bottles within as well as have a streamlined manufacturing process. Our process includes understanding manufacturing and fulfillment in order to design for both, the hexagonal box design were able to nest within master cartons reducing any wasted space and transportation costs. Ste Michelle's visual design of black and gold hot stamps allow the artist's work featured on the bottles to be the hero. Empty bottles kept in the box can remain displayed as keepsake packaging,
