DISCOVERY LAND

Discovery Land set out to create quintessential luxury living in some of the world’s most beautiful settings. With more than 15 all-inclusive luxury communities, there’s a place for the wealthiest to golf, sunbathe and ski.
They say it’s the details that count. To that end, Discovery Land asked Design Packaging to create a branded retail packaging program unique to each property. For this program, Design Packaging provided its full breadth of services; from packaging design, material sourcing, production and distribution to each individual property.

Hideaway: The place of choice for the Hollywood set to find refuge from the tabloids is in California’s Santa Rosa Mountains. This resort has a decidedly Spanish colonial architecture, which is reflected in the packaging program. The hand-painted tiles throughout the property were used as a focal point in the design, using duplex sheets of woodfree white paper for the interior with a natural kraft exterior. The natural kraft exterior was selected for its color and earthy texture with the tile’s likeness varnished on the inside of every shopping bag.

Mountaintop: In the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, this is where southern genteel style meets luxury mountain living. The retail packaging designed for this community incorporates several materials and overlays to give it a realistic wood appearance. For an added touch, leaves are imprinted on the bottom board as a reminder of the beauty of changing leaves as they lay scattered on the ground.

Gozzer Ranch: Who says luxury living can’t be family friendly? At this private mountain retreat on Lake Coeur d’Alene in Idaho, kids can have just as much fun as the grownups. The resort’s western theme is carried through the retail packaging program developed by Design Packaging. Made from kraft paper with a leather print, each bag is branded and detailed with faux stitching and horseshoes imprinted on the inside bottom board. The jute handles are cowboy inspired with the natural feel of authentic rope.

Kohanaiki: Since the 50’s, Hawaii has been a favorite for the rich and the famous to sunbathe and surf. This private resort, located on Hawaii’s Kona Coast, boasts miles of stunning coastline for an intimate, luxury experience. For this property, Design Packaging used a collage of island themed graphics atop an antiqued Hawaiian map. Each rope handle is strung with a real bamboo shoot, sourced directly through Design Packaging’s Hong Kong office.
