CENTRAL MARKET
To this day, Austin’s foodies still revere the day Central Market opened its doors in 1994. The opening ushered in a new world order for food lovers, with a European-style fresh market concept that would change grocery shopping forever. Word of the “amusement park for food lovers” quickly spread and the Central Market in Austin became a popular tourist attraction. In 2006 Central Market opened its eighth store and has attracted national attention for its innovative approach to grocery shopping.
With such a wide range of the world’s finest food and drink products, eco-chic grocery bags were needed to carry those epicurean delights home. Design Packaging developed earth friendly, sustainable retail shopping bags on a laminated nonwoven material in striped patterns for Central Market customers. Now, as the season changes, so do the colors of the stripes on these upscale reusable shopping bags.
Central Market looked to Design Packaging to expand its popular line of reusable shopping bags. What resulted was a nylon cooler bag with PVC backing and silver insulating material with P.E. foam in a summer shade of green. Finally, there is an insulated bag that keeps hot things hot and cold things cold. Design Packaging then developed a wine/champaign tote that is free with the purchase of six bottles of wine or champaign. Central Market’s excellent choice of quality, excellent wines results in buying multiple bottles making a tote a necessity. But it’s the new tote that is drawing the most attention, made of natural cotton canvas, in a custom silk screened green vine pattern with a comfortable green handle. A tote that tells the world “I know good food and style.”
Design Packaging has been instrumental in the production, shipping, warehousing and delivery to all the eight of the Central Market stores. With such a chic array of shopping totes and cooler bags to carry home so many goodies, how could it be anything but a foodie’s delight?
