WILLIAMS SONOMA

Selling a small array of cookware imported from France, the first Williams-Sonoma store of Sonoma, California opened its doors in 1956 in what was once a hardware store. With news of this hardware store of sorts for avid cooks quickly spreading to San Francisco, Williams-Sonoma moved to a location not far from Union Square. Sales catapulted with the introduction of their catalog and Williams-Sonoma stores began opening in upscale retail neighborhoods across California. Having three major channels including retail stores, catalogs, and internet websites, the company has expanded to include six brands and hundreds of stores.

It is quite possible that Williams-Sonoma’s delectable Chocolate Molten Cake may be responsible for a great deal of the company’s success. After all, "Nine out of ten people like chocolate. The tenth person always lies." - John Q. Tullius. Our goal was to make the packaging as delicious as the decadent chocolate treat waiting inside. Completing the program is a two-piece round rigid box, instruction card, custom waxed tissue, and labels which are used to secure the lid to the base. Aside from the tissue paper, each of these components is produced at the same factory enabling quality control and streamlining the packing process. Each piece of tissue paper is carefully folded and placed inside the boxes for shipping.

Like the cake inside, the box is wrapped in a rich chocolate brown paper that has been embossed with a custom pattern. The interior of the box is lined with a dark brown woodfree paper and completed with matte lamination. Serving as a closure to seal in the precious chocolate contents, the custom printed labels add old world elegance and a touch of class with the hint of gold printing.
